On May 20th Hermes China organized a customer day "Grinding Tubes & Rods" in Shanghai.

The Crown Plaza Hotel, Shanghai was the location for presentations given the Hermes experts with regards to all aspects of centreless grinding. To complete the program, additional presentations were given by guest speakers from Loeser ( market leaders of centrelsss belt grinding machines), Oemeta (Coolant manufacturer) and Hilzinger-Thum (Contact wheel manufacturer) The main focus of the presentations were applications for Hermes products Hermesit, Cork and the newly developed Mercurit range of abrasive products.

By employing practical training, the participants were able to witness the products in use. A Loeser centreless machine was used to grind a variation of cylindrical product, which were then measured for surface roughness and presented on a special display board.

Special interest was shown in MERCURIT types RB 590 Y, RB 595 Y and RB 598 Y and the impressive surface qualities achieved with Hermes Cork products also received positive response.

A range of particular interest to the Chinese market, will be the HERMESIT high performance grinding belts. This range will provide efficient and economical solutions to many of the varied qualities and applications found in China.

The final part of the program was a plant tour of the Hermes factory. “In addition to the consistently positive feedback, we were especially pleased with the high number of participants, composed both from existing customers as well as from new prospects. More events of this kind are already scheduled", said Ian Wade (Executive Vice President Asia Pacific) and Wolfgang Heidtmann (Group Vice President Business Development).
